Path Traversal occurrences in Icinga Web 2

Icinga Web 2 is an open source monitoring web interface, framework and command-line interface. Authenticated users, with access to the configuration, can create SSH resource files in unintended directories, leading to the execution of arbitrary code. This issue has been resolved in versions 2.8.6, 2.9.6 and 2.10 of Icinga Web 2. Users unable to upgrade should limit access to the Icinga Web 2 configuration. (2022-03-08, CVE-2022-24715)

Icinga Icinga Web2 2.0.0 through 2.6.4, 2.7.4 and 2.8.2 has a Directory Traversal vulnerability which allows an attacker to access arbitrary files that are readable by the process running Icinga Web 2. This issue is fixed in Icinga Web 2 in v2.6.4, v2.7.4 and v2.8.2. (2020-08-19, CVE-2020-24368)

Why Path Traversal can be dangerous

Relative Path Confusion means that your web server is configured to serve responses to ambiguous URLs. This configuration can possibly cause confusion about the correct relative path for the URL. It is also an issue of resources, such as images, styles etc., which are specified in the response using relative path, not the absolute URL.

If the web browser permits to parse "cross-content" response, the attacker may be able to fool the web browser into interpreting HTML into other content types, which can then lead to a cross site scripting attack (link do XSS).
