Path Traversal occurrences in Interactive Graphical Scada System
A CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory vulnerability exists inIGSS Definition (Def.exe) V15.0.0.21140 and prior that could result in remote code execution, when a malicious CGF or WSP file is being parsed by IGSS Definition. (2021-06-11, CVE-2021-22762)
A CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory exists in IGSS (Versions 14 and prior using the service: IGSSupdate), which could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to read arbitrary files from the IGSS server PC on an unrestricted or shared network when the IGSS Update Service is enabled. (2020-03-23, CVE-2020-7478)
Why Path Traversal can be dangerous
Relative Path Confusion means that your web server is configured to serve responses to ambiguous URLs. This configuration can possibly cause confusion about the correct relative path for the URL. It is also an issue of resources, such as images, styles etc., which are specified in the response using relative path, not the absolute URL.
If the web browser permits to parse "cross-content" response, the attacker may be able to fool the web browser into interpreting HTML into other content types, which can then lead to a cross site scripting attack (link do XSS).
