Path Traversal occurrences in Kibana

It was discovered that on Windows operating systems specifically, Kibana was not validating a user supplied path, which would load .pbf files. Because of this, a malicious user could arbitrarily traverse the Kibana host to load internal files ending in the .pbf extension. Thanks to Dominic Couture for finding this vulnerability. (2021-11-18, CVE-2021-37938)

A local file disclosure flaw was found in Elastic Code versions 7.3.0, 7.3.1, and 7.3.2. If a malicious code repository is imported into Code it is possible to read arbitrary files from the local filesystem of the Kibana instance running Code with the permission of the Kibana system user. Why Path Traversal can be dangerous

Relative Path Confusion means that your web server is configured to serve responses to ambiguous URLs. This configuration can possibly cause confusion about the correct relative path for the URL. It is also an issue of resources, such as images, styles etc., which are specified in the response using relative path, not the absolute URL.

If the web browser permits to parse "cross-content" response, the attacker may be able to fool the web browser into interpreting HTML into other content types, which can then lead to a cross site scripting attack (link do XSS).
