Path Traversal occurrences in Simple-file-list

The Simple File List WordPress plugin is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Download via the eeFile parameter found in the ~/includes/ee-downloader.php file due to missing controls which makes it possible unauthenticated attackers to supply a path to a file that will subsequently be downloaded, in versions up to and including 3.2.7. (2022-04-19, CVE-2022-1119)

WordPress Plugin Simple File List before 4.2.8 is prone to a vulnerability that lets attackers delete arbitrary files because the application fails to properly verify user-supplied input. (2020-05-13, CVE-2020-12832)

Why Path Traversal can be dangerous

Relative Path Confusion means that your web server is configured to serve responses to ambiguous URLs. This configuration can possibly cause confusion about the correct relative path for the URL. It is also an issue of resources, such as images, styles etc., which are specified in the response using relative path, not the absolute URL.

If the web browser permits to parse "cross-content" response, the attacker may be able to fool the web browser into interpreting HTML into other content types, which can then lead to a cross site scripting attack (link do XSS).
