Tuleap Cross-site Scripting

Tuleap is a Free & Open Source Suite to improve management of software developments and collaboration. In versions prior to 13.9.99.111 the title of a document is not properly escaped in the search result of MyDocmanSearch widget and in the administration page of the locked documents. A malicious user with the capability to create a document could force victim to execute uncontrolled code. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue. (2022-06-29, CVE-2022-31063)

Tuleap Open ALM is a libre and open source tool for end to end traceability of application and system developments. There is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in Tuleap Community Edition prior to 12.11.99.25 and Tuleap Enterprise Edition 12.11-2. A malicious user with the capability to add and remove attachment to an artifact could force a victim to execute uncontrolled code. Tuleap Community Edition 11.17.99.146 and Tuleap Enterprise Edition 12.11-2 contain a fix for the issue. (2021-10-14, CVE-2021-41142)

Cross site scripting is an attack where a web page executes code that is injected by an adversary. It usually appears, when users input is presented. This attack can be used to impersonate a user, take over control of the session, or even steal API keys.

The attack can be executed e.g. when you application injects the request parameter directly into the HTML code of the page returned to the user:

https://server.com/confirmation?message=Transaction+Complete

what results in:

In that case the message can be modified to become a valid Javascript code, e.g.:

https://server.com/confirmation?message=<script>dangerous javascript code here</script>

and it will be executed locally by the user's browser with full access to the user's personal application/browser data:
